Once upon a time, where the sea meets the mountains, on the slopes of Fethiye, where history and nature came together, there was a village called Kayaköy. Its name was Karmylassos once upon a time, in the heart of Lycia, the voice of the ancient world echoed in its stone streets.

Back then, when Kayaköy had not yet been petrified, it was a paradise where the flowing rivers and pine forests of Lycia whispered. The stone houses of Karmylassos were like stars shining in the first light of the sun. Time has left deep traces on these lands. The glory of Rome, the silent prayers of Byzantium, all mixed among these stones.

In the golden ages of the Ottoman Empire, Kayaköy began to write a different story. Greeks and Turks lived side by side, became friends, and shared the abundance of these lands. The joyful laughter of children mixed with the sound of church bells. The domes of Taksiyarhis Church reached into the sky, carrying hopes and prayers into the blue.

In 1923, the wind blew differently in these lands. The population exchange changed the fate of Kayaköy. Greek neighbors immigrated to Greece, leaving their memories behind. The stone houses left behind began to keep memories of the past in silence. Empty streets, abandoned churches and school buildings became forgotten memories in the lap of nature over time.

Now, when you walk among the stone walls of Kayaköy, you feel the deep breath of history. Each stone, each step whispers to you the story of the people who once lived here. The wind wanders among the leaves of the olive trees and hums you a song from ancient times.

Kayaköy is not just a village, it is a monument that resists time. Its stone houses, churches and narrow streets are silent guardians that bear the traces of the past. When night falls and the moonlight illuminates these old stones, Kayaköy comes alive again; It's like a fairy tale written together by history, nature and humans...

Kayaköy gives each visitor different emotions with its both sad and fascinating atmosphere. This village is a paradise where history and nature intertwine, and every corner bearing the traces of time tells a new story.
